Martina Zucchi is a Researcher (TD/b) in Structural Geology and Tectonics at University of Bari Aldo Moro (Department of Earth and Geoenvironmental Sciences). She graduated in Geoenvironmental Resources and Risks at University of Camerino in 2013, with a Master Thesis in Advanced Field Geology. In 2017, she took her Ph.D. in Geosciences (Structural Geology) at University of Bari, with a thesis on Fracture and mineralizing fluid paths in the eastern Elba Island exhumed geothermal system (Italy), in the framework of the European Project IMAGE (Integrated methods for geothermal exploration) - FP7 (grant agreement n. 608553).
From 2017 to 2019 she had a post-doctoral position at the same University in the frame of the HORIZON 2020 GEMEX project - Geothermal research cooperation EU-Mexico and the main work was focused on the relationships between geological structures and paleo-geothermal fluid circulation in the Las Minas area (Mexico).
From 2020 to 2023 she had a research position (TD/a) in Structural Geology at University of Bari and from September 2023 to November 2024 she obtained a post-doctoral position in Seismic Microzonation of the Puglia Region at the same University.
In 2021, she won the SGI Awards 2021 – Best paper of young researcher in Structural Geology and Tectonics for the paper: Faults controlling geothermal fluid flow in low permeability rock volumes: an example from the exhumed geothermal system of eastern Elba Island (northern Tyrrhenian Sea, Italy). Zucchi (2020), Geothermics 85, 101765.
She spent three months (February-April 2023) at NORCE (Norwegian Research Centre, Bergen, Norway) through the cooperation agreement between the University of Bari and NORCE, studying fault zones and fracture networks using Virtual Outcrop Model and Discrete Fracture Networks.

Martina's main research topics include field mapping, tectonics, structural geology (i.e. characterization of fault zones, relationships between brittle structures and fluid circulation), fluid-rock interaction and chemical-physical properties of paleo-fluids, applied in particular to fossil exhumed geothermal systems of different geological contexts (in continental and oceanic crust) in Italy and abroad (e.g. Mexico, Iceland, Turkey).

Keywords
Metamorphic rocks, fossil exhumed geothermal system, Northern Apennines, Turkey.
