Marco G. Malusà is a geologist at the University of Milano-Bicocca whose main research emphasis is the tectonic evolution and exhumation processes of orogenic belts and associated detrital fluxes to sedimentary basins. Study areas range from the Mediterranean to North Africa, East Asia and the Pacific. His research integrates field geology (sedimentology, stratigraphy, structural geology) with geophysics and thermochronology. Dr. Malusà received his PhD from the University of Torino and began his research career contributing to extensive geologic mapping projects in the Western Alps with the National Research Council of Italy. He has taught Field geology and mapping (undergraduate level) at the University of Milano-Bicocca since 2005. He has been leader of field-based summer schools, organizer of advanced international short courses, scientific director in international mapping projects, and advisor of over 60 PhD, Master and Bachelor theses, most of which related to mapping projects. Dr. Malusà is the author of over 80 publications in high-impact scientific journals and books and coauthor of 11 geological maps or explanatory notes in the Western Alps and in the Atlas and Anti-Atlas orogenic belts, published by the National Geological Surveys of Italy, France, and Morocco. He was Editor of the book "Fission-Track Thermochronology and Its Application to Geology", and Guest Associate Editor of Tectonics and G-Cubed.
